Excerpt

Exercising faith is the same as seeing the glass as half full, not half empty. The person of a simple faith conveys a positive attitude to others that is infectious. Faith gives birth to perseverance, self-discipline, and victory over our fears. Because we have faith in the positive ultimate outcome, we can sustain perseverance in difficulties and self-discipline in the face of temporary pain. We defeat our fears based on our knowledge that in the end, based on our faith, we win!

“And Jesus answered them, ‘Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be taken up and thrown into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you ,‘Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours”’ (Mark 11:22–24).

The message here is not to try to toss the Rocky Mountains out to the Pacific Ocean! Rather, what seems impossible to you and me in the natural is not only possible but plausible with God. Everyone knows and loves the underdog. American farmers with muskets defeated England, the greatest empire in the world in 1776. The US hockey team upset Russia in the 1980 Olympics. Martin Luther King Jr. overcame racism and the Ku Klux Klan to establish civil rights for African Americans. Men and women rise from poverty to build billion-dollar businesses across America. The “can do” attitude upon which America is anchored reflects faith in our ability to overcome incredible odds to achieve success. As a Christian, I marshal my faith and confidence from God. A nonbeliever might base his or her faith simply upon confidence in self. When you listen to people who constantly tell you all the reasons you will not succeed, they are devoid of faith in God or you. Avoid those people (unless, of course, they happen to be your spouse or children!). If you are unfortunately working under a boss with a negative attitude, you may want to seek a job transfer or look for other employment. The negative attitudes of bosses and others will eventually drag you  down unless you consciously fight for a faith-based positive outlook each day.

Regarding business, “having a positive attitude opens your mind to trying new methods, adapting to new technologies, and identifying opportunities.” According to research conducted by NCBI, National Center for Biotechnology Information, people with a positive mindset are more successful because they recognize opportunities and take advantage of them (“Why Having a Positive Attitude Matters if You Want to Succeed,” Digital Resource)
